Would You Do It Again?
Now that my room is done, I am often asked if it was worth it or would I do it again. My answer is a resounding, "YES!" I have learned so much through this whole process and it has made me a much better teacher. It was a lot of time and work to put into this process, but the pay off has been beyond my expectations. I am able to look at things through my students' eyes, understand the importance of movement within the classroom, and to rediscover the joy of teaching. The professional development that went along was fantastic. Ever time I was at RESA, I came out of the meeting so excited that I was up most of the night just waiting to get back into the classroom to try new things with my students. Also, going through the process with my students, made the process even more exciting. The students were excited throughout the process and just went with the flow. They always were willing to add their input into the design. They showed me what was working and what we needed to improve on. We went through the remodel together with all the ups and downs and not once did they complain. They always looked at me and reminded me that, "We go with the flow!" My students were fantastic through the whole process and that made it worthwhile as well as their faces when they saw the room for the first time. That was really special. Yes, it was worth it, and yes I would do it again!
